Macon Shield Club Honors the Best of the Best

Macon's Shield Club honored the top 2010 law enforcement officers from the Macon Police Department and the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, in addition to firefighters from the Macon-Bibb Fire Department on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at their annual meeting and banquet. Honorees include: Macon Police Department: Investigator of the Year Cedric Penson and Patrol Officer of the Year Brian Powell. Bibb County Sheriff's Office: Lt. Chip Wagner and Deputy Cameron Thomas. Macon-Bibb Fire Department: Private Derek Uburtis and Private Greg Walker. Congratulations to these fine men for their courageous and inspiring work.

Vision Airlines announces MCN to Destin Ft. Walton

Starting March 25th, Vision Airlines will operate flights two days per week, from Middle Georgia Regional Airport (MCN) to Northwest Florida Regional Airport (VPS), utilizing a 30-seat Dornier 328 aircraft, allowing travelers to experience an outstanding beach destination the minute they step off the plane.

City of Macon Municipal Court Schedule updates

The City of Macon Municipal Court was operating on a limited schedule on January 10 and 11 due to the weather. Anyone who had a case scheduled for January 10 has been rescheduled until January 27. Anyone scheduled for January 11 should report on February 10.

All court sessions begin at 8:00 A.M. As always, if you wish to pay your fine without appearing before the judge, that can be done at anytime prior to your court date either in person or online at the city website.

City of Macon and Bibb County Employees to Report at 11 am Tuesday due to Inclement Weather

In light of continued inclement weather, the City of Macon and Bibb have decided to delay opening for business until 11 am on Tuesday. The forecasted overnight temperatures are expected to be below freezing in the Macon area which could lead to ice formations on the roadways. Employees who are responsible for emergency services are expected to report as normal. All other employees should report to work at 11 am on Tuesday morning. If you have questions contact your supervisor.

All citizens are encouraged to stay off the road ways overnight and early tomorrow morning, unless absolutely necessary. If citizens do have to travel they are encouraged to slow down and use extreme caution when driving, especially on bridges and overpasses. As information develops the Macon-Bibb EMA will notify the local media and will also post updates to the City of Macon website www.cityofmacon.net.
