Title VI Compliance
The City of Macon, Georgia hereby gives public notice that it is the policy of the City of Macon to ensure that no person shall on the grounds of race, color, national origin, sex, age, and handicap/disability be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or otherwise be subjected to discrimination under any of our programs and activities.
It is also the policy of the City of Macon to assure full compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987, and related statutes and regulations in all programs and activities.
Any person who believes he/she has been subject to unlawful discriminatory practices prohibited by Title VI has the right to file a formal complaint. The complaint must be filed with the Title VI Coordinator, P.O. Box 247, Macon, GA 31202-0247, (Location: 700 Poplar Street, Third Floor City Hall). The Compliance Officer's primary responsibility is to investigate employment discrimination complaints. Any City of Macon employee (past, present, or prospective) who believes he or she has been discriminated against must notify the Compliance Officer as soon as possible after the alleged act of discrimination to allow the City to investigate the complaint and take prompt, corrective action. The Discrimination Complaint Form is available on line and at the Compliance Office.
In addition to investigating employment discrimination complaints, the Compliance Officer also counsels employees seeking guidance regarding workplace conflicts, provides technical assistance to management, assists the HR Training Division, and carries out various other responsibilities and projects to ensure equal employment opportunity.
